Cambridge University Boat Club was established in 1828, its goal, original or otherwise, is to defeat Oxford University Boat Club in the Boat Races. The University of Cambridge Boat Club's administration and training building can be found on the river Cam and is known as the Goldie Boathouse, purpose built in 1882, the boathouse is a grade II listed building.
First began as a friendly competition between former school friends, at their respective Oxford and Cambridge Colleges, the Boat Race is a fixture of the Rowing Calendar, and one of the oldest continuously fought sporting events.
The first men's race took place in 1829, the first ladies race 97 years later. The crews from Oxford and Cambridge race from the University Boat Race Stone, upstream from Putney Bridge to the University Boat Race Stone downstream of Chiswick Bridge, a distance of four and a quarter miles.
This year will be the 78th Women's race, and the 169th Men's and we're pleased to be able to offer a range of official products.
