'Without living water, we die.'

The University Library's exhibition: Living Water: Poetry, Art and the Fight for Clean Rivers, which runs Friday 20 March - Saturday 5 December 2026.

This exhibition uncovers a significant archive of letters, manuscripts and artworks that offers fresh insight into their creative dialogue across five decades. At its heart lies the shared landscape that sustained them, rivers that became both artistic touchstones and warnings of environmental decline.
Also on show are works by the acclaimed artist Susan Derges, inspired by the rivers and landscapes of Devon.
Susan Derges’s photograms are an immersive collaboration with water’s invisible force. Derges’s works reflect on her ecological concerns and belief that water sustains and connects everything. The resulting images are a direct imprint of nature's form, producing variations in tone that reflect differences in opacity and translucency.

This limited edition of 50 prints will only be available for the duration of the exhibition.

Each edition is mounted, but not framed, and comes with a Certificate of Authentication.
Limited edition print, A4 (image size 270x195mm), on DaVinci Folio Archival Matte paper featuring an artwork by Susan Derges.
