Earthenware tile with flowers in a formal container, c.1740
This 18th century tile came to The Fitzwilliam Museum as part of the S.G. Perceval bequest in 1922. It was produced in a Bristol pottery and contains some lovely details: not only in the central bouquet of flowers, but also in the scalloped edging of the border and the small cherub's heads that adorn each corner.
