Between the 15th and 17th centuries, the town of Iznik in Turkey became renowned for producing highly decorative ceramics with vibrant lead glazed colours. The designs were initially influenced by Chinese blue and white porcelain, but the Turkish artisans soon developed their own flowing style of arabesque patterns with the addition of bright reds and greens. The design of this gift wrap sheet incorporates a symmetrical pattern composed of Iznik tiles from The Fitzwilliam Museum.
