This beautiful print of Frank Bowling's ‘Swan’ (1964) is personally signed and numbered by the artist, and limited to edition of just 30 copies. They have been meticulously silk-screen printed by Coriander Studios, on high end Velin Cuve BFK Rives 250gsm paper with hand torn edges. 

Painted in 1964 in London, ‘Swan’ came out of the artist’s chance encounter with a group of swans while walking along the River Thames, one of which was flailing in an oil slick. Bowling saw the bird as a symbol of transformation and duality – a narrative of life and death. He began incorporating the image of the swan in a series of paintings, setting them against geometric backgrounds. It is often ambiguous whether the animal is successfully rising into the air or spiralling downwards.
