This beautiful composition in blues, purples, and greens was the first work by Impressionist painter Monet to enter The Fitzwilliam Museum's collection, in the year 1953. It depicts Monet's son sitting with the daughter of his mistress Alice (later his wife) in the orchard of the artist's gardens in Giverny.
