Glass decoration made by Deborah Lowe.

From her studio on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, Deborah works on large scale stained glass commissions alongside smaller pieces for the home. Deborah specializes in using the traditional techniques employed by medieval glaziers, bringing a historic authenticity to her contemporary stained glass panels. Trained in Fine Art and Architectural Stained Glass she is an Associate Member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters, a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers, and has over 25 years’ expertise in her craft.

These small size decorations are hand-painted with pictures inspired by the artworks from A Call to Art, including Pre-Raphaelite angels by artists including Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. They are constructed from small fragments of glass that are leftover when Deborah makes full size stained glass windows. This 'jumble' or collage assemblage was also used in Medieval stained glass making, and can be seen in churches around the UK. Each piece is unique and has been specially made for the Fitzwilliam Museum Shop and Curating Cambridge.

The pieces have metal loops to the upper corners, so they can be fitted with your choice of ribbon or string and hung up (in front of a light window for best effect!).

Due to the use of traditional glass making techniques, this panel contains lead. Washing hands after handling the panels is always recommended, especially before eating. They have been polished with black grate polish, which is harmless but may come off when handled.
