A stunning kimono style gown in a dramatic dark shade with contrasting pink trim, decorated with a print inspired by the botanical studies of Princess Louise d'Orleans. Princess Louise (1812-50) was an accomplished watercolourist who produced many beautifully detailed paintings of flora and fauna. The Fitzwilliam Museum was gifted several of her works as part of the Broughton bequest in 1973. This gown has a soft, satiny finish, and drapes wonderfully.
