Ronald Searle, Carpet snake rather wishing it were something else, 1984
Ronald Searle (1920 - 2011) was one of Britain's most popular and celebrated graphic artists. He was born in Cambridge and was a frequent visitor to The Fitzwilliam Museum in his youth. In 2014, Searle's children generously presented the museum with a number of watercolour and ink works, all displaying the illustrator's unmistakable style and trademark humour.
