Roelant Savery, The Dodo, 1626 Many of the representations we have today of the dodo derive from the work of Dutch artist Roelant Savery (1576 - 1639). Savery incorporated the unusual looking creature into at least 10 of his paintings, and these influential depictions were widely copied in book illustrations and engravings. The image included in our dodo range is taken from the frontispiece to Hugh Strickland's 1848 book The Dodo and its Kindred, a copy of which is held in Cambridge University Library. Dodo lovers can also find an impressive skeleton in the Museum of Zoology, one of the most complete of its kind in the UK.  Product details:
