Barbara Dietzsch, Primula Auricula with caterpillar and pale clouded yellow butterfly
Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706 - 1783) was a Bavarian artist specialising in watercolour and goauche paintings of animals and plants. This study of a blue primula is typical of her confident execution and exact style, with the addition of remarkably detailed insect life and a bold black background.
