Georg Dionysius Ehret (1708 - 1770) was a German botanist and entomologist known for his meticulous observational artworks carefully reproducing the colours and shapes of plant life. His early career was spent as journeyman gardener, working across Europe. Later he began working closely with Carl Linnaeus. This study captures the delicate petals and tendrils of a sweet pea variety. The Fitzwilliam Museum holds several of Ehret's works within the Broughton collection. Product details:
