Flemish painter Joris van Son is known for his opulent still life paintings, laden with fruit and flowers and showing exquisite artistry in his ability to render diverse textures and colours in oils. Still Life with a Lobster is a fine example of his work, depicting a luxurious banquet scene overflowing with rich and exotic produce.
Held in collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, bequeathed in 1912 by Charles Brinsley Marlay.
