Newnham college

Newnham College is a lively and sociable women’s college at the heart of the University of Cambridge. Founded in 1871, Newnham is the oldest college run by women, for women.

The story of Newnham is a story of bravery and freedom, of the pursuit of knowledge, and the empowerment that education brings. Founded by a group of radical thinkers – suffragists, philosophers, writers, and scientists – it began with just five students and became one of the greatest providers of women’s education in the world.
