John Stevens Henslow (1796 - 1861) held the title of Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge for 36 years. This A2 print reproduces one of the remarkable teaching charts that Henslow prepared to illustrate his popular lectures, using a powerful microscope to capture the tiniest details of flora including lichen, ferns, and in the case of Tayloria, a species of moss. The unique and almost otherworldly image makes a fascinating piece of artwork to display at home.
An extensive collection of Henslow's teaching charts is held in the Whipple Museum of the History of Science. Explore the rest of our Henslow range, including more prints, stationery, and textiles.
