Samplers from The Fitzwilliam Museum's collection
The Fitzwilliam has an incredibly rich and diverse collection of needlework samplers as a result of generous donations from patrons over the course of the museum's history. These samplers display an impressive array of different embroidery techniques and act as documents of changing aesthetic tastes and social mores over the years. This notecard wallet set contains five intricate examples, including:
Elizabeth Bates, Sampler with framing border, 1801
Dorcas Haynes, Band sampler, 1720
Ann Gibbons, Band sampler, 1769-70
Rachel Lee, Sampler with framing border, 1821
