John James Audubon, illustrations of owls from The Birds of America, c. 1827-38
Audubon was an artist and naturalist whose magnum opus The Birds of America is considered one of the most important ornithological works ever completed. A copy of this magnificent work is held within The Fitzwilliam Museum. This pack of notecards includes Audubon's depictions of American owl species, representing just a few of the more than 200 species living around the globe today: the Great Horned Owl, Mottled Owl, Snowy Owl, Great Grey Owl, and Northern Saw-whet Owl.
