Alice Ellis and Edith Bull, illustrations of apples and pears from The Herefordshire Pomona, c. 1878-84
The Cory Library at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden holds a copy of The Herefordshire Pomona, a catalogue of the extraordinary range of varieties of apples and pears grown in the orchards of Herefordshire. The watercolour illustrations selected for this notecard pack depict in perfect detail the colours and textures of these fruit and their parent trees. Images include crab apples, dessert pears, and medlar and quince.
