French artist Nicolas Robert (1614 - 1685) spent many years of his life dedicated to the replication of floral life through art, completing a series of paintings for Gaston, Duke of Orleans and then by royal appointment in the gardens of Versailles and the Jardin du Roi in Paris for Louise XIV. This pack contains drawings from the Broughton bequest, an outstanding collection of botanical art housed within the Fitzwilliam Museum.
