Blossom artworks from the Fitzwilliam Museum's collection of Japanese prints.
The Fitzwilliam has collected Japanese woodblock prints since 1896, with a number of important bequests adding significantly to their splendid holdings. This notecard pack contains details from prints by masters Utagawa Hiroshige (1797 - 1858) and Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1865). Both were active during the Edo period and are known for their works within the genre of ukiyo-e or 'floating world pictures,' with subjects such as landscapes, flora and fauna, scenes from history and folklore, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, and erotica.
