Hugh Cott, Marabou at Kaseny (reworked), 20th century

Hugh Bamford Cott (1900-1987) was a zoologist and scientific illustrator with particular expertise in the study of colouration and camouflage. Between 1938 and 1967 he held the position of Strickland Curator (Curator of Birds) at Cambridge University Museum of Zoology, researching and lecturing at the museum in between field trips to South America and Africa. The distinctive shapes of wading marabou storks are given a splash of bright colour on this bone china mug.

This design is also available on a tea towel and as an art print.
