Herman van Swanevelt (1603-1655), The Campo Vaccino, Rome, 1631
Herman van Swanevelt was a Dutch artist known for his oil paintings of idyllic landscapes. He stayed in Rome for several years, where he became part of the Bentvueghels or 'Birds of a Feather' group, a community of Dutch and Flemish artists living and working in the Italian city throughout the 1600s.
Part of the Fitzwilliam Museum collection by Founder's Bequest.
