Henslow's Fontinalis - A2 Print

John Stevens Henslow (1796 - 1861) held the title of Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge for 36 years. This A2 print reproduces one of the remarkable teaching charts that Henslow prepared to illustrate his popular lectures, using a powerful microscope to study and capture the tiny details of plant life invisible to the human eye. Fontinalis depicts the incredible, colourful minutiae of a species of subaquatic moss, and makes a truly unusual and intriguing piece of art.
