John Stevens Henslow, Adiantum amoenum, c. 1840
Staycation in style with our new and fabulous range of deckchairs. The unusual designs are taken from the teaching charts of John Stevens Henslow, Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge between 1825 and 1861, and depict the microscopic details of flora such as lichen and moss. Although produced almost 200 years ago, these remarkable images are surprisingly modern in their bold use of line, colour, and text. The Whipple Museum of the History of Science holds over 100 of Henslow's botanical charts within their collection. Adiantum amoenum represents the miniscule parts of a species of maidenhair fern.
Our deckchairs are only available for shipping within the UK.
