Kettle's Yard has a large collection of paintings by Winifred Nicholson (1893-1981). Nicholson was a close friend of Kettle's Yard founder Jim Ede, and the two engaged in busy correspondence for many decades after their first meeting in 1924. The Music of Colour contains essays by Nicholson, previously unpublished letters between Nicholson, Ede, and others, and colour reproductions of all Winifred Nicholson works in the Kettle's Yard collection.
